Well now, in my search for ‘different’ ways to pass the time on a Saturday morning… I came across yet another superb free application from Google. It’s called SketchUp (which my spellchecker wants to correct to ‘ketchup’). A couple of hours spent playing with it so far let me create a very basic, (badly scaled, pitched etc.) 3D model of the Parthenon at the Acropolis in Athens. It’s a really easy to use, clever program and I’d recommend it to anyone with some time on their hands. I do of course plan to do something a bit better but as a very first attempt, I’m reasonably proud of my self (even though I’ve nothing to be proud of, the fact that I was able to do it is down to the clever people who programmed it so neatly).
